Electrical Creation

Yes I know, this is supposed to be the acolytes and or silent ones post but I found an image of the Electrical Creation that was painted with the other random Arcanists a while ago so here that is. The acolytes and silent ones are coming soon lol

The mechanical horse finally has its rider

Yes, after using the mech rider for the last few months without its rider I've finally painted and put the rider on her back. The spear was a pain and broke off while I was taking her off the Sprite when I assembled her and my intention was to repair this. Problem was the spear tip has since gone missing and well to be honest, I just couldn't be bothered finding a replacement. Hence the tip less spear how she now rolls.

Up next are the December Acolytes and tomorrow I might try and get the Silent Ones painted. Will see, but for now, here's the finished mechanical rider.

Molemen and Willie

Adding to list of painted Arcanists are another couple of models that are at least semi finished. The Molemen have no bases and Willie is in the same boat. For the Molemen I'm thinking of a jungle sort of base but not sure and for Wille I'm heading towards a rail worker type base like Mei Feng box bases.

The Molemen I decided to try and make look sort of dirty purplish pink skin tones but made them all slightly different. Sort of works I guess but they are weird models anyway so doesn't matter. Here they are.

Fire Gamin oh you horrid little buggers

so I decided to paint these guys while I was sitting on the floor...bad idea. While they came out alright, when I was putting on the last few strokes of colour on the last one I dropped it between my legs. Not to bad so far. Just reach down and pick it up. Not so easy it wasn't there, so I lifted up my leg. No good, still not there. Put down my foot and rolled it forward to be comfortable and found the missing gamin.

Yes these are as fragile as they look haha. The injury list was all of the fingers on the right hand, one or two of the fingers on the left hand, both ankles broken and a snapped tail...damn it that sucked. So I glued the tail back and the ankles but the fingers were a lost cause but it looked like it might almost hold up...wrong! So after taking the photo and putting it on the shelf both of the ankles snapped off again gggrrrrrr oh well, never mind I guess it just means I'll have to make a green stuff fire base or something to imitate it forming or some other weird thing of fire. Not sure it will work with the way I have decided to paint these guys but will see if I I ever decide to finish it.

Angelica, almost anyway...

...well she's table ready and done enough to use. At least until I finally decide what to put on her foot stool. Also painted a little while ago was the rider for the Mechanical Rider, Fire Gamin, Willie and the Molemen but they will be the next few posts. So here's Angelica

I'm here to die or kill you trying....Howard Langstone

It's here, everyone's favourite construct.....Howard Langstone aka Citizen Snips, Hank, Dr Chops, Langa Banga, F;$@3~*g piece of S#@t or the variety of other endowments this sexy model has poured upon him.

This was another model that needed a bit of a gentle push and a poke to sit on his base properly. While it's not far from the original pose, what I've tried to achieve with the new pose was a bit more of an action orientated stance and have it look as if he was trying to cut your head off with his incoming left hook after running at you over the junk pile with his over extended uppercut.

In the past I have had limited success with him and he's spent the most of his life unpainted and unused, sitting quietly in my model box all lonely like because every time I field him he's priority target and dead before he does anything. But.... I have finally finished him and are currently using him in the campaign my local gaming group has started. So far I like him for the sheer panic on people's faces he produces when placed on the table rather than his tabletop prowess but hopefully after the campaign is over I'll be more used to him and he may see more table time.

Large Arachnids and Ramos totem repurpose

So the little spiders have big brothers hhhmmmm.....best I get me some of them too I thought. So I did hahaha

Originally the Large Arachnid box comes with a pair of them which should be plenty however once I had made them and seen that they are a little smaller than Ramos' totem from his box set I decided to turn the box set totem into a Large Arachnid for use in my other crews. The real Large Arachnid models got the same base treatment as the rest of my Ramos crew so they fit in nicely but the totem repurpose ended up on the more generic cobblestone base style that I use on the majority of my other Arcanists. It did still require a bit of bending and shaping to even fit on the larger base I made for it so it looks as if it's crawling over a wall section so there is NO WAY I can see this ever fitting on a standard 30mm base if anyone tries to use it as the totem it's intended to be?!?!?! Wyrd scale issues at there finest I say

Mechanical Spiders and a Swarm

The Ramos crew base box comes with some spiders but I figured they wouldn't be enough. This may or may not be true but as bought a box of some more just so Ramos has plenty of these little bugger sat the ready if needed. I figured one swarm should be enough so based up one only and left the rest as single base spiders.

Wasn't sure how to differentiate between the single spiders in game as they all look the same or similar at least so I decided to mark them as groups of three on their bases and cards. Haven't tried it yet as I'm still to actually play a game with them but each individual spider has as single, double or triple line in green, red or blue on its base and each individual card has the matching mark upon it. Pretty sure this will be the easiest way to determine which model has taken what wounds and activated etc during game play but if any experienced Ramos players have as better system please let me know.

Ramos and his brass arachnid totem

While this weekend gone was spent with my daughter; last weekend was spent painting Angelica, Willie and the rider for the Mech Rider but these have not yet had pictures taken so this post and the next few will show Ramos' crew box and a few extra models. I finished painting the Ramos crew models two weekends ago or maybe even three, but are just getting them uploaded now.

The Ramos crew posts will have their pictures split over as couple of posts as it's easier if for me that way. This post wil be obviously as per the title, Ramos and his totem, the Brass arachnid.

The real totem from the crew box is seeing service as as third large arachnid and the one I choose to use as the gaming version is a normal spider with the chimney added to differentiate it from the masses.....here they are

Moving into Neverborn

While I am an Arcanist player at heart, I have also always had a soft spot for the Neverborn.

I have been trying to get my partner to play the game too and she also has a like of the Neverborn faction so when the opportunity to get a couple of ready for the table Neverborn crews came up from a player who no longer wants to play Malifaux I just had to get them.

Even though I bought these as an entry for my girl I have always liked the idea of the Jacob Lynch crew so I'll be playing him and my partner will have the Dreamer crew to wet her faux fingers on.

The bundle I got included the Dreamer crew, Lynchs crew, as couple of Teddies, some Alps, Insidious Madnesses, Beckoners, Tannin and Graves, Lelu and Lilitu as well as some Depleted. Everything was also painted and ready for the table except for the Depleted. Normally I would strip and repainted any models I bought to actually play with but these crews are not being so lucky, they are staying as bought of Daryl and only the Depleted will get a quick splash of paint to match the others. The only other thing I will do is use some dull coat on the lot to reduce the satin sheen they have from whatever Daryl has used to shade them.

Anyway, enough of my waffles, here they are.......
